A New Dean at Prairie View A&M University

Tamara L. Brown is the new dean of the College of Juvenile Justice and Psychology at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. For the past 13 years, she served on the faculty at the University of Kentucky.

Her research is focused on the underutilization of mental health services by members of minority groups. Dr. Brown states, “We know very little about the way culture and related social factors affect symptom expression, help-seeking behavior, and the developmental course of psychological distress among ethnically diverse communities.”

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois.
