Fort Valley State University in Georgia has announced plans to begin a minor degree program in nuclear engineering in the fall of 2013. The program is funded by a $258,310 grant from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The NRC reports that the nation’s nuclear industry is facing a manpower crisis with a need to replace 25,000 skilled workers over the next three years. To meet the need for skilled workers the NRC is funding new programs at colleges and universities across the United States.
