Josiah Tlou, professor emeritus of education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, was named Distinguished Global Scholar of the Year by the National Council for Social Studies.
A native of Zimbabwe, Professor Tlou joined the faculty at Virginia Tech in 1978. Dr. Tlou is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He holds a master’s degree from Illinois State University and a doctorate from the University of Illinois.
