Daniel Q. Gillion, assistant professor of political science at the University of Pennsylvania, has won the 2014 Best Book Award from the Race, Ethnicity, and Politics Section of the American Political Science Association. Dr. Gillion was honored for his book The Political Power of Protest: Minority Activism and Shifts in Public Policy (Cambridge University Press, 2013).
Dr. Gillion joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University and earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Rochester.
