College Dean Appointed to the Boston School Committee

Regina Robinson Boston School CommitteeMartin J. Walsh, mayor of Boston, has appointed Regina Robinson to serve on the Boston School Committee. Robinson is dean of student affairs at Cambridge College.

In making the appointment, Mayor Walsh said that Robinson “has a unique and broad perspective on education issues rooted in her experience as a parent, educator, and higher education administrator.”

Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and a master’s degree in counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Black Matriculants Are Down at U.S. Medical Schools

In 2024, the share of Black applicants to U.S. medical schools increased by 2.8 percent from 2023. However, the share of Black medical school matriculants decreased by 11.6 percent. Notably, there has been year-over-year progress in overall Black medical school representation, which has risen to from 7.9 percent in 2017 to 10.3 percent in 2024.
