Racist Graffiti on the Campus of The Lincoln University

A vandal or vandals spray-painted the word “Niggers” on a sign at the entrance to The Lincoln University, a historically Black educational institution in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The graffiti was discovered a 1:50 A.M. and was removed later that morning.

ValerieHarrison-HeadshotValerie I. Harrison, acting president of The Lincoln University, said that “this incident is a sober reminder that our forebearers persevered in the face of hatred and intimidation, yet achieved and maintained standards for excellence which Lincoln University has become known. Let’s not allow the cowardly acts of others distract us from our commitment to maintaining this legacy or cause us to act in a manner that is inconsistent with our greatness.”
