Racist Drawings Found on the Campus of SUNY-Purchase

sunylogoDrawings of swastikas and nooses were found drawn on the walls of three residence halls at the State University of New York campus in Purchase. In one instances a drawing was found on the dormitory door of a room shared by Black and Jewish students.

SUNY-Purchase is located north of New York City in Westchester County. It enrolls about 4,200 undergraduate students. Blacks make up 8 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Thomas Schwarz, president of SUNY-Purchase, said in a statement: “These crimes are reprehensible and unacceptable. I speak for the community in condemning this invasive, racist, and sick behavior.”
