Historically Black Alabama State University in Montgomery has signed an agreement with the University of Liberia in western Africa. The University of Liberia was founded in 1863 and is located in the nation’s capital of Monrovia. It enrolls about 18,000 students.
Under the agreement the two universities will participate in faculty and student exchanges, research projects, and study abroad service learning initiatives. Alabama State University President Gwendolyn Boyd stated that the agreement will enable Alabama State students to develop the knowledge and skills “to live and work in a global society with civility and respect.”
