Jazz Musician Named to an Endowed Chair at Arizona State University

Lewis Nash, an internationally acclaimed jazz drummer, was named the Bob and Gretchen Ravenscroft Professor of Practice in the School of Music at Arizona State University. He will begin teaching during the 2017 spring semester.

Professor Nash has performed on 10 Grammy-winning performances and has a resume that includes more than 400 recordings. He is native of Phoenix and attended Arizona State University. A jazz club in downtown Phoenix – The Nash – was named in his honor.

In accepting the appointment, Professor Nash said “the school’s mission of preparing creative leaders who will transform our society through music inspires me, and I look forward to the opportunity to play a role in the nurturing of the next generation of jazz artists.”
