Said A. Ibrahim will be the next dean of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. A native of Somalia, Dr. Ibrahim will be the school’s first Black dean. His appointment is effective December 1.
Dr. Ibrahim has been serving as senior vice president of the medicine service line at Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider. He also serves as chair of the department of medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, and the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University.
Dr. Ibrahim is a graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio. He earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Dr. Ibrahim also holds a master of public health degree from Harvard University and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
