Anthony T. Williams, Jr. has been named chief of staff to the president of Lane College, a historically Black educational institution in Jackson, Tennessee. He has nearly 15 years of experience in student affairs, including positions in organizational leadership, change-management, student conduct, dispute resolution, and social justice education.
Dr. Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Chicago State University, a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from Illinois State University, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University.
John Miller IV has been appointed director of the Black/African American Cultural Center at Colorado State University. He most recently served as director for diversity, equity, and inclusion in Black community initiatives at the University of Denver. Earlier in his career, he held similar roles with Duke University, Elon University, and the University of Colorado.
Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in higher education administration from North Carolina State University
Sloan Cargill has been appointed vice president for institutional advancement and external affairs at historically Black Jackson State University. She will also serve as executive director of the JSU Development Foundation, Inc. She brings significant experience in institutional advancement to her new role, including service as director of annual giving at historically Black Howard University.
Cargill is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where she majored in sociology with a minor in women, gender, and sexuality studies.

Williams received his bachelor’s degree in sports marketing and management and his master’s degree in sports management and administration from Indiana University.

Dr. Catching is a graduate of Montclair State University in New Jersey, where he majored in history. He holds a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from New York University and a doctorate in social and philosophical foundations from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Jones is a graduate of Miami University in Ohio, where she majored in kinesiology with a minor in communications. She holds a master’s degree in leadership with a focus on sports leadership from North Central College in Illinois.
