Daryl Minus is the New President of Eastern Shore Community College in Virginia

On July 1, Daryl Minus became the sixth president of Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa, Virginia. The college enrolls about 700 students, 28 percent of whom are Black.

Prior to taking the helm of Eastern Shore Community College, Dr. Minus was vice president of enrollment management and student success at Southside Virginia Community College for five years. With over two decades of experience in education, he has held dean and vice presidential roles at institutions in Virginia, North Carolina, and California. Additionally, he had a stint as the education assistance branch manager and education services officer for U.S. Marine Corps Community Services in Jacksonsville, North Carolina.

“I am elated to serve as the sixth president of Eastern Shore Community College and build on the outstanding legacy established by [former president] Dr. Jim Shaeffer,” said Dr. Minus. “ESCC is an exceptional institution, with a dynamic history of creating expanded learning and earning pathways for the citizens of Accomack and Northampton counties. I am honored to join this vibrant community and prioritize strategic efforts that position students for success and enhanced economic mobility.”

An HBCU graduate, Dr. Minus earned his bachelor’s degree from Hampton University in Virginia. He holds a master’s degree from New York University and a doctorate from the University of Phoenix.
