Kedrick Nicholas has been appointed interim president of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. According to the most recent data from the Department of Education, the university enrolls about 500 graduate students and over 5,500 undergraduate students, 16 percent of whom are Black.
Dr. Nicholas began his career at McNeese State University in 2005. Over the past two decades, he has held several administrative leadership roles, including dean of student affairs, dean of students, and director of campus life and engagement. Most recently, he was the university’s senior vice president of student affairs. In this role, he worked closely with the president on broad conceptual efforts on campus, university-wide budget management, partnerships with external entities, and relationships with governing authorities on the system and state levels
A two-time alumnus of McNeese State University, Dr. Nicholas earned his doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in higher education administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
