Following six months of interim service, Darius Watson is now the permanent dean of the School of Professional Studies at Lincoln University of Missouri, a historically Black educational institution in Jefferson City.
Alongside his new responsibilities, Dr. Watson will retain his current administrative appointment as assistant provost for academic innovation, outreach, and research. In this role, he led the launch of the Lincoln University Security Sciences Institute and the Lincoln University Employment Academy. He has also overseen two administrative program reviews during his tenure. Dr. Watson first joined the HBCU’s faculty in 2019 and currently teaches as a full professor of political science.
“Darius Watson has demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and commitment to academic excellence,” said Lincoln University President John Moseley. “His innovative approach and dedication to our students and faculty make him the ideal choice to lead the School of Professional Studies. We are excited to see the continued impact of his leadership across these programs.”
Dr. Watson received his bachelor’s degree in international relations from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He earned his master’s degree in international relations and his Ph.D. in political science from the University at Albany.
