University of Nevada College of Education Dean Receives No-Confidence Vote

The faculty in the College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno have issued a no-confidence vote in the college’s dean, Donald Easton-Brooks, according to a report from News 4 in Reno.

Out of 90 academic and administrative faculty members in the College of Education, 85.5 percent expressed no confidence in Dr. Easton-Brooks’ leadership, while 9 percent said they have confidence and the remaining 5.5 percent abstained. The vote arose after some faculty expressed concerns that Dr. Easton-Brooks was fostering a hostile work environment, including accounts of bullying, intimidation, and retaliatory behavior.

Dr. Easton-Brooks began his tenure as dean of the UNR College of Education in 2019, following four years of service as dean of the School of Education at the University of South Dakota. Earlier, he was dean of the Colleges of Business and Education at Eastern Oregon University and associate dean of the School of Education at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Easton-Brooks holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Greenville University in Illinois. He earned a master’s degree in early childhood special education and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Colorado at Denver.
