Fayetteville State University has signed an agreement with Sampson Community College that permits associate degree graduates to complete an online bachelor’s degree at FSU at a total cost of no more than $10,000 in out-of-pocket expenses. Students eligible for federal and state grants will likely pay less.
Sampson Community College, based in Clinton, North Carolina, enrolls more than 1,400 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 19 percent of the student body.
“Fayetteville State University is excited to partner with Sampson Community College to offer one of the nation’s most affordable pathways to a bachelor’s degree,” said FSU Chancellor James Anderson. “Both FSU and SCC are committed to putting higher education within reach of every North Carolinian.”
The $10k Pathway Plan opens the door to affordable bachelor’s degrees for SCC students in 10 programs: accounting, birth through kindergarten education (non-teaching), business administration, criminal justice, fire and emergency services administration, intelligence studies, nursing, interdisciplinary studies, psychology, and sociology.
“Fayetteville State University serves as our regional partner with the University of North Carolina and historically has graduated SCC students many of the College’s occupational and transfer programs,” said SCC President Dr. William Starling. “This agreement provides the most economical pathway to complete a bachelor’s degree from SCC and helps remove the principal barrier to many students’ degree attainment.”
