Voorhees College, a historically Black educational institution in Denmark, South Carolina, has announced that is will offer its first fully online degree program during the Fall 2019 semester.
“The institution’s rich heritage and its current multicultural student-centered focus provide a firm foundation for this endeavor,” said Voorhees College President W. Franklin Evans. “Hence the proposed online program seeks to serve the needs and aspirations of individuals by preparing graduates for leadership roles and life-long learning and by contributing to the development of the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.”
The online bachelor of science degree program in business administration was recently approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and accredited by the Associate of College Business Schools and Programs. The program will offer concentrations in general business and finance.
“The decision to develop an online degree program stemmed from a desire by the College’s faculty and administrators to create avenues that would expand students’ alternatives to the traditional classroom setting and tailor their educational delivery in a manner that is best suited for their real-life situations,” said Ronnie Hopkins, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Voorhees College.
