The special collections libraries at Duke University and North Carolina Central University in Durham have made the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company Archives available to researchers. The archives include more than 100,000 items documenting the history of largest African-American-owned life insurance company in the nation.
The archives span the years 1898 to 2008 and include photographs, advertisements, annual reports, office files, interoffice memos, training program materials, and memorabilia. The archives can be accessed by researchers in the special collections sections of each university’s library.
