Bobbi Knight Chosen to Lead Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama

The board of trustees of Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama, has chosen Bobbi Knight to serve as interim president. She will take office on September 1 and serve while a search for a permanent president is undertaken.

Miles College enrolls 1,650 students, according to the latest data submitted to the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 96 percent of the student body at the historically Black college.

Knight has served on the college’s board of trustees and is the former vice president of the Birmingham division of Alabama Power. She has been serving as chair of the Birmingham Airport Authority. She also served a chair of the board of managers of Birmingham Times Media Group.

Knight is a graduate of the University of Alabama. She earned a law degree a Birmingham Law School and is a graduate of the executive leadership program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
