Public universities in Kenya admitted a record total of 41,879 students this year, an increase of about 8,000 students from a year ago. Some 76,000 students applied for admission to these institutions. All students will enroll within a year. In the past, many admitted students were obliged to wait two years for a spot to open up so they could enroll in classes.
The University of Nairobi admitted the largest number of students with a total of 4,677.
