Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, has announced that Edison Jackson will serve as interim president beginning May 14 upon the retirement of Trudie Kibbe Reed. Dr. Jackson is the former president of Medgar Evers College, a branch of the City University of New York. He retired from that post in 2009 after serving in the position for 20 years. He also has served as president of Compton Community College in California.
Dr. Jackson will serve as interim president until a permanent successor to President Reed is found.
Dr. Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology and a master’s degree in counseling from Howard University. He holds a doctorate in education from Rutgers University.
