Two African American Women Faculty Members Who Have Been Given New Assignments

Karen D. Morgan, associate professor of mathematics at New Jersey City University, was named senior vice president for academic affairs at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, effective July 1. Dr. Morgan also serves as the interim assistant provost for undergraduate experience and interim director of the Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center at New Jersey City University. She joined the faculty there in 2005.

Dr. Morgan holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematics higher education, all from the University of Mississippi.

Bianca Harris was appointed director of the new online master’s degree program in criminal justice at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. The program will enroll its first students this fall. Her responsibilities will include teaching courses, recruiting students, and supervising an advisory board.

Harris is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in criminal justice administration. She earned a master’s degree in criminal justice at Boston University.
