The College of Engineering, Technology, and Physical Sciences at historically Black Alabama A&M University, has announced that it graduated the largest class of students in the past decade. The college reported that 194 students received graduate degrees and 445 students were awarded bachelor’s degrees.
The college reports that 34 percent of the graduates have secured employment, 35 percent will continue to pursue their education, and 1 percent plan to enter the U.S. military. At least 37 graduates who have secured a job reported salary offers of more than $70,000, with the highest offer being $115,000.
The valedictorian among the undergraduate students was Jeremy D. Lipscomb, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
In a video presentation for the virtual graduation ceremony, Alabama A&M University President Andrew Hugine said: “For each of you, we wish for you HOPE, as you navigate the unchartered waters of life ahead.” He said that the “H is for holding on, O is for optimism, P is for pressing forward with dreams and goals, and E is for expectations because as ‘a man thinketh, so a man is.’”
