Hank Huckaby, chancellor of the University of Georgia system said, “Dr. Dozier has demonstrated a great capacity for leadership and a clear ability to unite the campus and the community. Her work as interim has been impressive and it is the right decision to allow her the opportunity to provide permanent leadership for the University.”
Dr. Dozier is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. She earned a master of social work degree from Clark Atlanta University and a doctorate in social welfare from the City University of New York.

Dr. Dozier’s appointment as Savannah State University president is a significant historical development. She is the first female to ever be appointed as a permanent president for the university. Due to this fact, the manner in which she leads the university will probably be under a lot of scrutiny but looking at her education background, it is expected that she will do a good job.
