
Katzenbach also helped draft the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and was active in efforts to pass these landmark bills, as well as defending the legislation before the United States Supreme Court. After leaving government service in 1968, he became senior vice president and general counsel for IBM.
