In Memoriam: Ronald Eugene Chavers, 1931-2020

Ronald “Black Horse” Chavers, a philosopher and professor of cultural and symbolic studies, affiliated with the Intercultural Open University, died on July 5 in Utrecht in the Netherlands. He was 89 years old and had been in declining health for several months.

A native of Urbana, Ohio, Dr. Chavers had African American and Native American ancestry. He was introduced into shamanism by his great-grandmother and his grandmothers. He served in the United States Army in Germany before studying theology, economics, and arts. He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy in Berlin, Germany. Dr. Chavers was founder and director of the institute DIES, – Community for Development – History in Utrecht, and director of the Foundation Lotus Creation Movement.

Dr. Chavers specialized in developing programs for managing organizational culture, intercultural engineering, and problem solving. He was a member of the League of International Universities and the International Council of Higher Education, an official UNESCO non-governmental organization.

Professor Chavers was also an artist, poet, and developed his own form of martial arts.

    It is already more than 1 year ago, that Ronald pass away from here. But now I found this message, although also last year I was searching how of all of you are. I am still very thankfull of the time I was theached by Ronald and all of you in Dies. So I wish all of you the wisdom and lifeforce of Ronald on your way now,
