New Administrative Positions for Nine African Americans at Colleges and Universities

Robert Dotson was appointed associate dean of students at Vincennes University in Indiana. He is the former assistant dean of campus life and student development and director of diversity and cultural affairs at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Dr. Dotson is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where he majored in clothing and textiles. He earned a master’s degree in college student affairs from the University of South Florida and a doctorate in higher education administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Tomikia LeGrande is the new vice president for strategy, enrollment management, and student success at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. LeGrande has served as vice provost for strategic enrollment management at the university since 2018. Earlier, she served as vice president for strategic enrollment management at the University of Houston-Downtown.

Dr. LeGrande is a graduate of Savannah State University in Georgia, where she majored in chemistry. She earned a master’s degree in chemistry at North Carolina A&T State University and a doctorate in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.

John E. Girton, Jr. has been named director of marketing and communications at Martin University in Indianapolis. He was director of creative services for Tennessee State University and an instructor of journalism and telecommunications at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Girton holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ball State University and a master’s degree in urban studies from Martin University.

Ashana Hurd, the director of professional development in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College, has been named the inaugural assistant dean for professional development and urban outreach. She joined the staff at the college in 2016.

Hurd holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in elementary education from Boston College.

Frank Tramble was appointed vice president of communications and chief communications officer at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He was the senior director of the Office of Advancement’s Communication Strategy and Operations at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Tramble received a bachelor’s degree in advertising management from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Georgetown University.

Kellye Blackburn was appointed director of career services at Grambling State University in Louisiana. She spent the past nine years in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as the senior manager of employability and alumni relations at Abu Dhabi University.

Blackburn is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Clark Atlanta University.

Quentin Alexander is the new senior director of advising at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He was the college counseling and student affairs program track coordinator at Longwood Univerity in Farmville, Virginia.

Dr. Alexander holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned a master’s degree in community agency counseling from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision from Virginia Tech.

Pamela Fountain-Roberts has been named director of health services at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. Roberts has been a practicing nurse for over 20 years.

Roberts holds a bachelor’s degree from Panola College in Carthage, Texas, and a master’s degree from Grand Canyon University.

Marc Williams was appointed director of the STEM e-sports program at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. Earlier, he was the co-founder of the e-sports business and entertainment program at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Dr. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from William Paterson University in New Jersey. He holds a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a doctorate in curriculum and education from West Virginia University.
