South Carolina State University is switching to a four-day work week this summer in an effort to reduce costs. Hours won’t be reduced. Staff members will work from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m from Monday to Thursday. By eliminating Friday from the work week, the university hopes to save costs on overhead and utilities.
The university is projecting a budget of $68.4 million for next year, down from $71.1 millon this year. The board of trustees is considering program cuts in several areas.
