Three Black Faculty Members Who Are Taking on New Assignments

Robin E. Dock was promoted to professor of rehabilitation counseling at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina. Earlier in her career, Dr. Dock was a professional counselor and disability services consultant in the Morehouse College Counseling Center and an assistant professor of counseling at Georgia State University.

Dr. Dock received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in deaf education and counseling psychology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Georgia.

Elwood Watson, a professor of history, Africana studies and gender studies in the department of history at East Tennessee State University, was named co-editor-in-chief of the Current Research Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Watson’s lastest book is Keepin’ It Real: Essays on Race in Contemporary America (University of Chicago Press, 2019).

Dr. Watson joined the faculty at East Tennessee State University in 1997. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in American history from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Maine.

Ainsley LeSure is a new assistant professor of African studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Her research focuses on critical theory of race and racism, social justice, democratic theory, Black political thought, and feminist theory.

Dr. LeSure is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Chicago.
