Dana A. Williams was named dean of the Graduate School at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Williams has served in positions of increasing responsibility at Howard University, including, most recently, as interim dean of the Graduate School and previously as chair of the department of English. She is the past president of the College Language Association.
Dr. Williams received a bachelor’s degree in English from Grambling State University in Louisiana. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in English from Howard University.
Leon Jones was named dean for medical education at Georgetown’s School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., effective August 1. He will also serve as a professor of psychiatry. Dr. Jones currently serves as health sciences clinical professor of psychiatry and associate dean for students at the University of California, San Francisco. Earlier in his career, he taught at the University of California, Davis, the University of Arizona, and the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio
Born in Ohio and raised in northern Maine, close to the Canadian border, and upstate New York, Dr. Jones is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where he majored in psychology, anthropology, and education. He received his medical training at Columbia University.
