Jeffrey Ogbar Named Vice Provost for Diversity at the University of Connecticut

Jeffrey O.G. Ogbar was named vice provost for diversity at the University of Connecticut. He is a professor of history and has been serving as associate dean for the humanities in the university’s College of Liberal Arts and Studies.

Professor Ogbar joined the University of Connecticut faculty in 1997 as an assistant professor of history. From 2003 to 2009, he served as the director of the university’s Institute for African American Studies.

Dr. Ogbar is the author of Hip-Hop Revolution: The Culture and Politics of Rap (University Press of Kansas, 2007) and the editor of The Harlem Renaissance Revisited: Politics, Arts, and Letters (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2010).

Professor Ogbar is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.
