Colleges and Universities Appoint Six African Americans to Administrative Positions

Nakia White Barr was appointed assistant vice president in the Office of the President at Princeton University in New Jersey. In her most recent role as secretary of Michigan State University’s board of trustees, Barr served as a university officer with administrative responsibilities related to board meetings and university governance.

Barr earned a bachelor’s degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.

Henry Glaspie has been selected as interim deputy chief information officer for planning and operations at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Dr. Glaspie most recently served as the cyber risk and compliance program manager in the Office of Research at the university. He also has been the director of information technology for the College of Medicine and the IT manager for the UCF Foundation.

Dr. Glaspie earned a bachelor’s degree in information engineering technology from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Hampton University in Virginia. He holds master’s degrees in modeling and simulation and industrial engineering and a Ph.D. in modeling and simulation from the University of Central Florida.

Chrissy Davis Jones has been named vice president of student affairs and enrollment management at Harrisburg Area Community College in Pennsylvania. She was dean of student support services and student conduct officer, as well as interim vice president of student affairs and Title IX coordinator at Spokane Falls Community College in Spokane, Washington.

Davis Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Wyoming. She earned a master of social work degree from the University of Denver and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of North Texas in Denton.

Kimberly Morgan Myles was appointed director for the Office of Alumni Affairs at Alcorn State University in Mississippi. She has been serving as an assistant professor of theatre at Tougaloo College for eight years. Myles was named Miss Mississippi in 2007 and was a Miss America finalist in 2008.

Myles earned a bachelor’s degree in vocal music at Alcorn State University and a master of fine arts degree in acting from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Kosha Tucker has been named associate vice chancellor and chief of staff in the Office of the Provost at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She most recently served as a principal at the Wren Collective, a strategic advising firm. Earlier, Tucker was a staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia.

Tuck holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy studies from Duke University. She earned a juris doctorate at the New York University School of Law.

David Bowser has been appointed director of athletics at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has served in the position on an interim basis since July 2020 and is also the head football coach at the university. Earlier, he was a coach at Fayetteville State University for 20 years.

Bowser is a graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

  1. Great to see Dr. Jones’ promotion at Harrisburg Community College. It is especially encouraging to a Steelton, Pa. native to see that she, too, is an alumna of the University of Wyoming. Go Cowboys!!!!
