New Administrative Roles for Four African Americans in Higher Education

John E. Smith is the new associate dean of graduate education and director of graduate programs at Clark Atlanta University. He previously served as director of graduate and professional programs at the University of Houston – College of Technology.

Dr. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and supervision and a doctorate in professional leadership from the University of Houston. He also earned a master’s degree in organizational management and leadership from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

Samira Malik is the new executive director of donor strategy and special initiatives at Northeastern University in Boston. Malik recently served as the associate vice president of advancement services and operation at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.

Malik earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. She also holds a master’s degree in data analytics from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Archie Tucker, II is the new senior vice president for development and university advancement at the University of Texas at Tyler. He was vice president for marketing, communication, and advancement at Alabama A&M University.

Dr. Tucker holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi Valley State University. He earned an MBA at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University in Mississippi.

Rosalind Dale has been named vice provost for engagement and outreach at North Carolina A&T State University. Dr. Dale has been associate dean for the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and Cooperative Extension administrator at the university since 2015.

Dr. Dale earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics food and lodging management from Western Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in nutrition sciences from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. She holds a master’s degree in human services administration from the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in Chicago and a doctorate in adult and continuing education from National Louis University.
