The University of California, Merced has appointed Daniel T. Okoli as vice chancellor and chief operating officer. In this role, he will oversee planning and development, facilities, the university police department, and several other departments. Dr. Okoli has served as vice president for capital planning and development at Northern Arizona University since 2017.
Dr. Okoli is a graduate of the University of Aston in Birmingham, England. He holds master’s degrees in architecture and humanities from Ohio State University, an MBA from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. from Colorado State University.
Stacy Gregg has been named director of procurement at South Carolina State University. Her previous post was procurement manager at the University of South Carolina. She has also worked with the South Carolina Office of State Procurement.
Gregg holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (management & English) from the University of South Carolina.
Toni Mooney Smith is the inaugural vice chancellor for marketing and communications at Rutgers University-Camden. She most recently served as executive director of marketing and communications for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston.
Smith is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she majored in communication. She holds a master’s degree in communication from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Anthony Morgan was appointed chief of public safety at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He was chief of police for the past year at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California.
Morgan holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from North Carolina Central University in Durham.
Kevin Hoult has been promoted to associate vice president of auxiliary and business services in the Division of Finance and Administration at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Last September, Dr. Hoult returned to the university as director of auxiliary and business services. He previously served as director of housing and residence life at Jackson State for 13 years before becoming executive director of university housing at Auburn University in Alabama in 2015.
Dr. Hoult earned both a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling with a concentration in college student personnel at Jackson State University. He holds a doctorate in higher educational leadership from Argosy University.
