Historically Black Grambling State University Enters Partnership With the University of Belize

Historically Black Grambling State University in Louisiana has entered into an agreement with the University of Belize.

Belize, known as British Honduras until 1973, is a Caribbean country on the northeastern coast of Central America. It borders Mexico to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Guatemala to the west and south.

The agreement establishes a path where graduates of the University of Belize can work on and complete graduate degrees in the department of curriculum and instruction at Grambling State University through an online program. The agreement calls for Grambling to accept a cohort of students who have undergraduate cumulative grade point averages of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, are licensed to teach in Belize, and meet Grambling’s admissions requirements.

“We are extremely excited to partner with the University of Belize,” said Cheyrl Mansfield Ensley, interim department head and associate professor in the department of curriculum and instruction and educational leadership at Grambling State. “Through our online program, we will provide access and opportunity to individuals who may otherwise not have the chance to obtain a master’s degree. This is a win-win situation for both universities.”
