Jackson State University, in conjunction with Mississippi Public Broadcasting, was established the Mississippi Learning Institute Early Child Resource and Training Center. The new center, which was funded by grants from the James and Madeleine McMullan Family Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, will serve as a childhood teaching laboratory for educators, college students, and child care providers.
The center will operate a preschool classroom based on the Between the Lions Preschool Literacy Initiative that seeks to enhance young children’s exposure to words and phonics.
