The Next Provost of Virginia Union University

Julius Scipio was named provost and vice president of academic affairs at Virginia Union University in Richmond. He has been serving as vice president for academic affairs at Fort Valley State University in Georgia.

Previously, Dr. Scipio served as chair of the division of humanities, education, and fine arts and associate director of research and sponsored programs at Voorhees College in South Carolina. He was the associate director of research, planning, and quality assurance at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis and assistant to the dean of graduate studies at the University of Memphis.

Dr. Scipio is a graduate of Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. He holds a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from the University of Memphis.
