Five African Americans Named to New Positions in Higher Education

Allen M. Jackson was appointed director of alumni relations and the annual fund at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was a manager of the operations division for GEICO in Macon, Georgia.

Jackson is a 2009 graduate of Claflin University, earning a degree in business administration.

Loria Brown Gordon was named interim associate dean of the W.E.B. Du Bois Honors College at Jackson State University. She is an assistant professor in the department of educational foundations and leadership and has served the university as director of TRIO programs and special assistant to the vice president for student life.

Dr. Gordon holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Jackson State University.

Lamonte Aidoo was appointed assistant professor of Romance languages at Duke University. A native of Hartford, Connecticut, Aidoo is a graduate of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Portuguese and Brazilian studies from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Andrena Gaymon is the new director of special events at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was the job development coordinator at Spartanburg Community College.

Gaymon is a graduate of the College of Charleston. She holds a master’s degree in education from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Thomas Hudson was named equal employment opportunity/affirmative action officer at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Hudson has been an attorney in private practice and has worked as an EEO investigator for the U.S. Postal Service and the Department of Homeland Security.

Hudson earned his law degree at the University of Memphis.
