Texas Southern University Enters Into a Partnership With Houston Community College

Historically Black Texas Southern University in Houston has announced a partnership agreement with Houston Community College that will help graduates from the community college’s drafting and design engineering technology program transfer into the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Texas Southern University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology.

Houston Comunity College enrolls more than 47,000 students. African Americans make up 27 percent of the student body. In the 2020-21 academic year, 32 students earned asssociate’s degrees in the drafting and design program at Houston Community College.

“This agreement allows Texas Southern to continue transforming lives of students interested in pursuing careers in critical STEM Jelds such as industrial technology, and areas of education that are important in our nation” said Lesia Crumpton-Young, president of Texas Southern University. “Our cooperative effort with Houston Community College provides an accelerated pathway for students to earn a bachelor’s degree and ultimately serve the Houston region and the nation with the knowledge and experience they’ve gained.”
