Norfolk State University in Virginia has announced plans to boost its retention and graduation rates. The university has opened the Spartan Student Success Center on campus. A full complement of academic support services will be made available for students at the center. These services will include tutoring, mentoring, and academic advising.
The goal of the new plan over the next five years is to increase the retention rate of first-year students from 73 percent to 80 percent. The university also hopes to raise the six-year graduation rate from 34 percent to 40 percent during the period.
