Crystal Feimster, an associate professor in the departments of African American studies and history and the programs of American studies and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, has been appointed to a five-year term as the head of Pierson College at Yale University, effective July 1. College heads serve as the chief administrative officer and presiding faculty member within the residential colleges at Yale. Dr. Feimster is the author of the prizewinning book Southern Horrors: Women and the Politics of Rape and Lynching (Harvard University Press, 2021).
Dr. Feimster holds a bachelor’s degree in history and women’s studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. in history from Princeton University.
Kia Dolby was appointed professor of digital communication at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. She has taught at Georgia Piedmont Technical College.
Professor Dolby is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she majored in graphic design. She holds a master of fine arts degree in visual communication from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Alison Brown has been named to the Dr. Jewel Plummer Cobb Endowed Chair at Talladega College in Alabama. She is dean of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the college. Her research focuses on the mechanisms and prevention of different types of cancer, including breast, prostate, and ovarian cancers.
Dr. Brown is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, where she majored in biology. She holds a master’s degree in biology from Tuskegee University in Alabama and a Ph.D. in toxicology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
