Racial Slurs Written on the Home of the President of the University of California

Racial slurs were painted on the home of the president of the University of California in Berkeley. Other slurs were found on a wall at the back of the home. Michael V. Drake was named the 21st president of the University of California in 2020. He is the only African American president in the 155-year history of the university system.

In an earlier incident, someone had smashed windows on the property but it was unclear if that incident was racially motivated.

A statement was released that read: “The University of California condemns all hate crimes committed against members of our campus communities. We will continue doing everything possible to create a safe and welcoming university community for all.”
