Dewayne Middleton Appointed President of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi

The board of trustees of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi, has named Dewayne Middleton as the ninth president of the college, effective July 1. Since 2021, he has been serving as executive vice president of the college.

Copiah-Lincoln Community College enrolls just over 2,800 students, according to the most recent statistics from the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 40 percent of the student body.

“I feel extremely honored and grateful to have been selected by the board of trustees to lead this incredible institution as president,” said Dr. Middleton. “Co-Lin has been part of my life for nearly 30 years, first as a student-athlete here and then the place I was fortunate to build my career. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to strengthen our institution as we work to offer the highest quality education to our students and communities.”

Dr. Middleton holds an associate’s degree from Copiah-Lincoln Community College where he was a member of the basketball team. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in sports administration from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in secondary education from Alcorn State University in Mississippi, and a doctorate in community college leadership from Mississippi State University.
