Patricia A. King, the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law, Medicine, Ethics, and Public Policy at the Georgetown University Law Center, has announced that she will step down as a member of the Harvard Corporation at the end of the year. The Harvard Corporation is the principal fiduciary governing authority of the nation’s oldest university. The organization was previously known as the President and Fellows of Harvard College. Two years ago, Harvard announced that it was increasing the number of members of the Harvard Corporation from 7 to 13. There are currently 11 members.
“I have admired Pat King since I first met her, and I’m very grateful for all she has done to support me personally and to help Harvard advance institutionally,” said Harvard University President Drew Faust. “She has a clear moral compass, a penetrating view of what matters most to Harvard and higher education, and a wonderfully probing, firm, and yet gracious and generous way about her that has contributed invaluably to the Corporation’s work.”
Professor King has served with the Harvard Corporation for seven years and has been on the Georgetown faculty since 1974. She also is an adjunct faculty member at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and Harvard Law School.
Dr. King and her husband, Roger Wilkins, the Clarence J. Robinson Professor of History and American Culture Emeritus at George Mason University, live in Washington, D.C.
