Four Universities Announce the Appointments of African American Administrators

Wendy Pearson was appointed vice president for strategic initiatives at Stony Brook University in New York, effective November 1. Most recently, she served as the senior advisor to the provost at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Pearson is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she majored in journalism. She holds a master’s degree in Asian studies from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Pamela Baldwin was promoted to associate vice chancellor for student success and enrollment management at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. She was the associate dean of academic partnerships. Earlier, Dr. Baldwin served as the head of school/superintendent for Global Scholars Academy in Durham, North Carolina.

Dr. Baldwin received a bachelor’s degree in biology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in administration and supervision and a doctoral degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Edward Morris was named interim director of counseling services at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. He is a former associate professor of clinical psychology in the Graduate School at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

Dr. Morris received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lake Forest College in Illinois. He earned a master of social work degree from Loyola University Chicago, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Maryland College Park.

Constance Meadors was appointed the first associate director of the Arkansas Space Grant Consortium at the University of Arkansas Little Rock. She is a former associate professor of engineering and associate dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Dr. Meadors is a graduate of Grambling State University in Louisiana, where she majored in physics. She holds a master’s degree in applied science and instrumentation and a Ph.D. in applied science engineering and systems from the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
