Medical Prodigy Is a Freshman at Florida A&M

Tony HansberryTony D. Hansberry is a freshman at Florida A&M University, where he majors in biomedical engineering. Four years ago, in a project for a science fair, Hansberry developed a new suture method for patients undergoing hysterectomies. The new method decreases hospital stays for women who undergo the surgery.

“People think I’m a genius,” Hansberry says. “It’s not that at all. I just like medicine.” He hopes to go to medical school after completing his undergraduate degree at Florida A&M with the goal of becoming a trauma surgeon.
