Meharry Medical College, a historically Black educational institution in Nashville, Tennessee, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan. The agreement will allow both institutions the opportunity to cooperate on various academic endeavors.
The two medical institutions plan to focus their collaborative efforts on health care research and education. This will include cooperation amongst faculty, research exchanges, and talent cultivation. Both Meharry Medical College and Kaohsiun Medical University aim to gain a better understanding of the similarities and differences between their practices in an effort to improve health care at their respective institutions. To kick off their new partnership, the schools will start a student exchange program.
The agreement was signed by Sonja Harris-Haywood, dean of the Meharry School of Medicine, and Po-Liang Lu, dean of the Kaohsiung Medical University College of Medicine.
