New Faculty Positions for Three Black Scholars

Jessica Kisunzu has been promoted to associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry with tenure at Colorado College where she has taught since 2017. She is currently researching the formation and application of benzynes and other highly strained and reactive aromatic alkynes.

Dr. Kisunzu is a graduate of Southern Adventist University in Tennessee where she majored in chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

Harrison Prosper has been named the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor at Florida State University. He is a professor of physics who has taught at the university for over three decades. His research interests include high energy physics, cosmology, advanced analysis methods, and Bayesian statistics.

Dr. Prosper received his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Manchester in England.

Ibipo Johnston-Anumonwo has been named Distinguished Professor in the department of geography at the State University of New York at Cortland. Her academic career has focused on urban geography, feminist geography, and equity and social justice.

Dr. Johnston-Anumonwo is a graduate of the University of Ibadan in Nigeria where she majored in teacher education. She holds a master of education degree with a concentration in international development from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in geography from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
