The College of Education, Human Performance and Health seeks a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education to prepare future teachers in obtaining certification in early childhood education (PK – 3rd grade), in addition to advisement and field-based supervisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a team of teachers and researchers working collaboratively to recruit and retain high quality early childhood teacher candidates as well as support local PK – 3rd grade in-service teachers. Candidates should be committed to working with faculty and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. CoEHPH seeks candidates who are interested in addressing barriers to schooling and equitable outcomes for all students. The selected candidate will teach a 4/4 load, maintain a roster of advisees majoring in Early Childhood Education, and participate in departmental committees and service initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate in early childhood education or closely related field is required.ABDcandidates with a planned completion date by August 15, 2025, are encouraged to apply. A minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in PK – 3rd grade classrooms is required. A demonstrated interest in teaching at the undergraduate level and a defined research agenda with presentations and/or publications related to early childhood education are required. A successful background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of experience teaching at the undergraduate level and working with pre-service teachers, as well as significant professional engagement with early childhood faculty in public schools is preferred. A record of the ability to identify and practice assessment measures for evaluating program outcomes as well as teachers’ impact on student learning in the early childhood school environment is preferred.
