In Memoriam: Adrienne Gaines, 1976-2025

Adrienne Lynnette Gaines, a student services staff member at the University of Arkansas, passed away on January 5 after a long battle with cancer. She was 48 years old.

Gaines began her career with the University of Arkansas as an academic advisor in the Sam M. Walton College of Business. She was later promoted to associate director of student services for the first-year engineering program in the College of Engineering. In that role, she oversaw the program’s academic advising, peer mentoring, and academic support services. She also served as the inaugural director of Engineering One-Stop, an initiative aimed at improving the college’s retention and graduation rates.

Gaines earned her bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Northern Iowa and her master’s degree in workforce development from the University of Arkansas.
